B&Q has hired former BT ESG executive Joanna Gluzman as its new director of responsible business, to lead on the retailer’s sustainability strategy and overall roadmap.

Gluzman will join the company on 1 July 2024.

She has over 25 years of experience spanning ESG and investor relations, most recently at PZ Cussons, a FTSE 250 FMCG company as chief sustainability officer overseeing the sustainability strategy and implementation internationally.

Gluzman has also held senior positions as group director of sustainability for Avon Cosmetics and group director of ESG engagement at the BT Group.

As director of responsible business, Gluzman will be responsible for leading B&Q’s sustainability strategy and overall roadmap, ensuring its delivery across the company and on the DIY retailer’s journey to carbon net zero.

B&Q’s sustainability measures include being the first UK retailer to remove neonicotinoids in 2012 to offering only 100% peat-free bagged compost since 2023 while committing to selling peat-free plants by 2026.
