British Gas, Ecotricity, EDF, and E.ON Next join Ripple Energy’s renewables co-operative

British Gas, Ecotricity, EDF, and E.ON Next are the latest energy companies to join Ripple Energy’s renewables co-operative, the green energy company has announced.

By joining the co-operative, it means that customers of British Gas, Ecotricity, EDF and E.ON Next can now own part of a wind farm or solar park via a co-operative managed by Ripple Energy.

The four new suppliers join Ripple’s existing partners. including Your Co-op Energy and Unify Energy.

Ripple members receive money off their bills based on how much their share of the green project generates and the wholesale market price of energy. When wholesale energy prices are high, Ripple members’ savings also increase.

Founder and CEO of Ripple Energy, Sarah Merrick, said: “Our mission has always been to make clean energy ownership available to everyone, everywhere. It shouldn’t matter whether you live close to a renewable energy site or not, live in a flat or a bungalow, own your home or rent it.

“Collaborating with even more of the UK’s major energy suppliers will not only support that mission but demonstrate their dedication to sustainability and delivering value to their customers.

“Action to accelerate the UK’s transition to clean energy is more important than ever. Partnerships like these can play a crucial role in making renewable energy accessible to all.”

Earlier this month, it was revealed British Gas was partnering with one of the biggest solar panel installers in Scotland as it looks to meet the growing demand for solar panel and battery storage technology from homeowners.
